BABY GIRL: so easy!

She is such a cutie and thank goodness she's an easy one cuz big sister is not yet 2. And those of us who have had 2 kids under the age of 2 know what I'm talking about. :)

I'm still here... {newborn girl}

It's seriously been raining babies and I'm trying to keep up! This beautiful girl is only 9 days new but she performed like a pro! The question is-what DIDN'T we stuff her in?? Note to potential clients--this was not a one man show--there were at least 4 grown ups helping with set up, posing, lighting, props and all kinds of miscellaneous tasks (like, how do you heat up a backyard? and how should we carve this giant pumpkin?)

All in all, a super fun session for me especially since Mom and Dad are very good friends of ours. Baby even christened Dad's brand spankin' new golf bag. He was very understanding-I hope it was worth it. :)

Plug for Mom's sister who made the adorable skirt shown below. She stayed up til 5 am to make the skirt in time for the shoot. When I walked in, she was still putting the finishing touches on the piece--but I must say, SO worth it!

SISTERS: a baby with her baby

Ok-so big sis is no longer a baby but she's just a few months younger than my baby (who is also no longer a baby, which makes me so sad--but that's for another day)...AND I've been photographing big sis since she was 4 months old so I still fondly remember her as a baby. But now there's a new kid in town and who can resist a sleepy smile? I love, love this family! They travel SUPER far to come see me multiple times a year (SUPER = > 50 miles) And they bring me and my family SPRINKLES cupcakes. What is there not to love?

So sweet! (The family and the cupcakes!)

TWINS: breaking the rules

So, I usually encourage clients to book newborn sessions before 10 days old for several reasons:

1) Babies change SO quickly that you'll want to capture this fleeting stage before they change again (right before your very eyes).

2) Mom and Dad are usually so sleep deprived that they can barely remember how to operate their camera, much less remember to take it out.

3) Newborns under 10 days old are sleepy, curly, ADORABLE, and don't suffer from baby acne.

With that, I present to you the rule breakers--these babies are 6 weeks old, were sleepy, curly and SUPER adorable, perfect skin (I believe these are the first babies I've met who never had baby acne), and Mom and Dad were on their toes helping me with the shoot.

NEWBORN TWINS: the perfect pair

These little ones were perfectly behaved for their first photo shoot. Only 12 days old and mom already had them on a schedule. I suspect that Mom's math teacher background really helped her in coordinating the complex schedule of two newborns. :) Mom was also busy feeding and changing a baby for most of the shoot that she (perhaps thankfully) did not watch as Mom's sister and I set up these shots. We were RIGHT there, we promise.

TWIN NEWBORNS: they really are as sweet as they look

Ok-confession time--I was nervous walking into this shoot. I love, LOVE newborns, but this is the youngest set of twins that I've photographed and I know babies can be unpredictable. But this pair was perfect! They were the ideal subjects to break me in and I'm hooked! And if I remember correctly--the last of this bunch is baby girl sleeping in her mom's (and her mom's mom's) bassinet-so sentimental.

NEWBORN GIRL: Baby BOOM!

There has been a HUGE influx of babies and I am just in seventh heaven. Many of the babies that you will be seeing belong to our really good friends. This one in particular is extra special to us. We have been praying for this couple for years (my daughter includes them in her prayers almost every night) and this precious little girl is definitely a miracle. My husband and I could not wait to meet her--here she is-only five THREE days new. Isn't she gorgeous?

I'm honored to be able to photograph this baby girl as mom has always been so supportive of me. Thank you for sharing her with us and reminding us how small and fragile our children were.

NEWBORN GIRL: so much to say...

Sometimes my shoots are pretty standard and I get writer's block when blogging...but not the case here. Where do I start? Let's see--my camera freezes up-have to borrow client's camera, my first introduction to Ugly Dolls, 10+ day old baby just keeps smiling but will not sleep, grandma feeds my son noodles... All true and if this were not a photography blog, I'd elaborate but enough blabbing--here are some pics from this very eventful shoot. Mom-thank you for being one of the most easygoing first time moms I've ever met--maybe even more easygoing than me. :)

I'm still here...

**UPDATE: Thanks for the Apple tips! I've already started using some of them and finding them very helpful. This PROMO is now closed. Gift certs will be mailed soon!

Hi dear readers (I know you're out there)-where have I been? Well, I got myself a new computer AND a server and being non-technical but just geeky enough to be dangerous, I decided to set it up myself. As you can imagine, there was lots of trial and error and I actually froze the iMAC, which required a good ol' turn off/turn on reboot. But I think I'm in business with LOTS of thanks to my own personal tech support, Frank Chen. And to start things off, photos of our dear friends' brand new baby girl-#3 of 3.

And a PROMO (as promised). First 3 posters to give me an Apple tip (ideally one that is useful to me-a long-time PC User) will receive a gift certificate for $50 towards a photo session. Make sure you leave me some kind of contact info. And of course, there's fine print-the gift certificate can be used on a new booking only. If you aren't an Apple user, feel free to do a google search or pick the brains of an Apple user.
My gift certificates were designed by the talented Christine Wong. (I love my friends!)

Isn't She Lovely?

I photographed my dear friend and her 4 month old baby and I just think they are the prettiest pair. I don't often show mom and their new baby because I usually just want to show off the baby, but when they look this good together, how can I resist? Thanks for sharing baby M with me for the morning. And thank you for being one of my greatest encouragers along this road of photography.

How cool is that hair??

Urban baby

Loved the light in the loft and all the bling that this adorable baby was sporting. She had all kinds of fun accessories which made for lots of interesting poses and shots. And mom and dad were so patient, letting me put baby in baskets, dressers and interesting blankets.

And baby makes 5!

Only the bravest, most capable moms can handle 5 kids (including a newborn) with as much ease as this mom of now 5. I had the pleasure of photographing this princess at 2 weeks new. She is the most precious little girl and so blessed to have brothers and sisters who only want to dote on her.

So pretty and feminine

Baby is surrounded by all things "shabby chic" and she certainly fits the part. She gave me all kinds of feminine poses and expressions. She looks like a perfect China doll with her pretty little smile.

Beautiful baby girl

One of my bestest childhood friends just had a baby. (I can't believe she had a baby!! I still remember when she used to pull my hair--and I don't think it was an affectionate tug). But now she's this wonderful, sometimes grown-up, sometimes playful new mom. She ADORES her baby girl---and gosh, can't you see why? Baby S is beautiful! And special thanks to mom for having the baby so that it coincided with my vacation in SoCal. Isn't she the best? :)

Three weeks new

I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable, and VERY cooperative newborn. It's such a privilege to have good friends who will allow me to put their brand new babies in seemingly precarious positions for the sake of a photo. Baby and mom were such troopers!
